There are numerous ski resorts in the Central System that are perfect for a family camper weekend. There are some more “caravan friendly” than others, and here we offer you a summary of what they offer. At COMERCIAL CARAVANING we know that snow can be very hospitable.
La Pinilla, in the Sierra de Ayllón of the Central System, is a small Castilian-Leon ski resort very popular with tourists from the capital of Spain, since it is barely an hour from Madrid on the A-1.
Located in Cerezo de Arriba and just 8 kilometers from Riaza, the resort has 12 lifts and 23 slopes, more than enough to satisfy the most experienced skier. It is well equipped in terms of services, with bars, cafeteria, restaurant, hotel and hostel, in addition to the well-known ski schools. You can spend the night in the Cerezo de Abajo car park, but not in the station itself. In return, the station prices are good. And we have next to it the charm of all the Segovian towns such as Riaza, Sepulveda or Pedraza
Valdesquí, located in the Sierra de Guadarrama, northwest of Madrid, has 220 hectares and 22 kilometers of skiable surfaces. It is an obligatory stop between Segovia and Madrid, and of course if we plan a sports getaway in Rascafría and its surroundings.
The station pampers our camper and allows us to spend the night next to the station and we have at least one hostel and a bar available for drinks, food and toilets. If there is not enough space, since Valdesquí is one of the reference points in terms of ski and camper stations, we can resort to the parking areas of the port of Cotos, just over two kilometers from the station itself.
Navacerrada, also in the Guadarrama mountain range, like Valdesquí separates the provinces of Segovia and Madrid, whose inhabitants use it massively on weekends. In addition to the proximity of La Granja (where we can taste an excellent suckling pig) and Cerdedilla offers us different areas for experts or beginners. We are talking about a perfectly equipped track and with two parking spaces with easy access that allow you to spend the night, although caravans who know the area emphasize that the one closest to the station is very windy. There are also hostels in the vicinity of the ski areas.
Sierra de Béjar is another very prominent enclave for skiers and camper fans. The La Covatilla slope is one of the jewels of the Central System and is equipped with all kinds of services, from a self-service restaurant, cafeteria, rest rooms, shops, a chiquipark… as well as other specific facilities for skiers. The slopes are characterized by a gentle slope that makes this track especially suitable for family vacations. As for our recreational vehicle, the track allows you to spend the night in the car park, which is not equipped with light but has a WC.
